Hell Creek formation sketch.
The animals are Dakotaraptor, Thescelosaurus and Cedrobaena.
Wanted to practice a bit with basic shadows.
#Thescelosaurus is a relatively small (4 - 4.5 meter/ 12-15 foot long) neornithischian #dinosaur from the #Lancian region. Like all ornithischian #dinosaurs, Thescelosaurus was an herbivore, likely feeding on low growing foliage such as ferns and horsetails.
Adding some smallish bipedal ornithischians to the mix was a must and Thescelosaurus with well known osteology and interesting skull shape was a obvious pick (also gives the T. rex something to eat)
Don't worry, we haven't forgotten about our usual Monday thing - time for another #DinosaurOfTheWeek!
Today's DotW is... Thescelosaurus!
This marvellous fellow's tail was long, stiffened by ossified tendons, and served as a balancing organ for the bipedal posture!

An acrylic #painting of Helushka, the #tyrannosaurus engulfing a #Thescelosaurus whole. #paleoart #art #dinosaur #paleontology
Why does the Thescelosaurus from that new paper look like it's wearing lipstick lol.
The eyes make it way worse than it is.
Thescelosaurus was an ornithopod dinosaur that was relatively common in areas it was found; in Hell Creek alone, it was the 3rd most numerous dinosaur species found! It also sported thick arms which may have aided in burrowing. Diggin’ it!
@magpieaj Showing my fanart of you would be cheating I guess (even though it's my proudest one), so I'm going to show you my second drawing that I'm most proud of and which took me the most time to draw... And also the thescelosaurus one, which I'm kinda happy about.
Thescelosaurus lived alongside the @duelingdinos and watched as the sky turned to fire when a mountain sized asteroid hit Earth. There's still a lot we don't know about these animals, but if you're in middle school you can help us learn more by checking out @CretCreatures
