Trentham was a charming small town, its narrow and cobbled streets well-kept & clean. Galdren arrived an hour before dusk, making his way to one of the larger inns for lodging. A tall man, with long hair pulled in a pony tail, leaned against the front of the Inn & smiled at him.
My daily dog walk takes me past this spooky old building - think it used to be the lodge at the old entrance to Trentham Gardens? There were loads of little white butterflies about last week (added some more for effect!) 👍😎
He was born in Suffolk to a family who owned Flatford Mill. After school he took over the family business before enrolling in the RA schools. He was influenced by Ruisdael & Gainsborough. Church in Trees (c1800), Trentham Park (c1801) & Landscape, 1808
