Kit Carson

Famous in his own lifetime as mountain man and scout, but I think if he were more famous today he might not be as celebrated. Like others, there is a mythic 'Kit Carson' and a real Kit Carson.

During the silent age, he became a solid cowboy draw, along with Tom Mix and Hoot Gibson. The transition to sound was hard on Westerns (which were shot mostly outdoors), and the Depression hit, and his businesses failed.
