Not seen much this week but did find my grans copy of this wildflowers by Patricia baker, illustrated by Leslie butler with some great illustrations in it that people might find interesting

Best year I've known, finding Wild Carrot, Daucus carota, in local Meadows. Beautiful Pink flower heads, turning White, with a solitary central Blood red flower. However one had 10 !. High in Sugar, has been used to sweeten puddings.

The books purpose was to include 'plates and descriptions of such plants as grow wild in the environs of London'.

Lesser celandine was once used to treat haemorrhoids because of the shape of its roots - don’t know if it worked, and am not recommending it! it’s a pretty, cheery plant and good for early insects though can get wild in a garden

It's lilac time....coming just after the bluebells. of my grandmother's house - she always picked the first white lilacs from the bush by her back door and put them in a vase with a few bluebells.
