NES sprite would be based on the Japanese concept art (shown below). It has the stubby legs and round head. The Western concept art is drastically different, likely because they made him look more like the Xenomorph, the inspiration for Ridley (name also comes from Ridley Scott).

For this one, I drew her as Ripley from the film Alien. I've watched the first one for the first time this past Friday, excellent film! I drew the Blood Devil next to her because my friend said it reminded them of a Xenomorph, and I can see it.
