#SciArtSeptember day 23 prompt ‘kind’
Flapjack, Opisthoteuthis california or adorabilis
is a kind of deep-sea octopus.
#SciArtSeptember Day 15 prompt ‘twin’…a while back I did a stint as an animal care volunteer in the nocturnal house at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, WA. I helped care for these adorable slow lorises. And my illustration was published in @theZoo —albeit upside down.
On the other side (Good/bad depending) was the birth of science illustration & museums…both are how I make a living. The history is bad, and the bad is not just in the past. Museums, higher education, art, science, experiencing nature are all a privilege and often elitist.
#SciArtSeptember day 3 prompt ‘captive’ Sea otters roll themselves up in kelp fronds to safely nap without floating out to sea. #seaotter
#SciArtPortfolioWeek I’m catching this on the tail end…here is some of my work—made this year. #deepsea #seafloor
Last two paintings of the year…many more to come for a 50+ species seafloor poster I’m working on for the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary and CA State U. Monterey Bay. #scienceillustrator #SciArt #scicomm #deepsea #seafloor #InverteFest
