Last night I pointed my telescope towards a whimsical part of the sky- the center of the Heart Nebula. That structure in the middle is known as Melotte 15, but there are fascinating objects littered throughout this entire 50-megapixel image. Which one is your favorite?
I used my largest telescope and best camera to take this photo last night. This is a 56-megapixel shot of the "Elephant Trunk" nebula, a gorgeous part of deep space. I've never really thought this looked like an elephant trunk... what do you see?
Two days from now we’re sending a human-rated rocket to the moon! I’m at @ExploreSpaceKSC checking it out. We are going!
This pic was taken during the 2021 total lunar eclipse. Learn more here: https://t.co/zP41dsVYUY
A project years in the making: Some of the highlights from our solar system. This is a composite image created using photos captured with my amateur gear. Can you find everything I included in the pic?

This morning every planet (and Pluto!) was visible in the sky at once. Here is my composite image of the event. Sizes of each object are to scale, space between them is not. This is a downscaled version of the 130 megapixel original- but should still look great if you load in 4k
What happens when you point a sensitive telescope at a nebula for 24 hours? This is an ultra-deep view of the leftmost star in Orion's belt. The horsehead and Flame Nebulae are practically invisible, but come alive after enough exposure time. This is where stars are born.
One of my favorite images so far this year, the 2022 Worm Moon, captured just after it was completely full to show some crater detail on the East side. The full size image is 256 megapixels! The format of this one is perfect for a mobile wallpaper- download away!
I’ve captured thousands of moon photos over the years. Which one is your favorite? (Sorry, can’t fit them all in one tweet)
The Monkey Head Nebula, captured by @ahawkinson and processed by me. This was captured using filters that isolate the emissions of the glowing gasses within the nebula. #astrophotography #space #opteam
Keep a camera pointed at the same part of the sky long enough, and magical things begin to appear. This is the Cave Nebula, the result of over 20 hours of exposures tracking the sky from my backyard. #astrophotography #space #opteam
