13: Super Saiyan 4 is by far the most overhyped transformation in Dragon Ball.
It was narratively strong, but came straight out of left field and fell victim to a similar thing that Super Saiyan did in Z.
That being said, I still fucking love it.
@Da_Green_Lady Here’s Zuchin, part a kind of saiyan that evolved separately from the ones of Planet Vegeta.
Of all the designs, this one is probably my second best.
@xRazorFang @EggerScaledBack “Super Saiyan can’t be that iconic”
Meanwhile Super Saiyan being referenced in dozens of cartoons as late as the modern day, 30 years after its debut:
@slayer_pixel Eresin, a Majin creation first meant to counter the time breakers, was imprisoned within a forever recurring universe that he watched the birth and death of hundreds of thousands of times, and afterwards is the unwilling carrier of the essence of a nigh-omnipotent outer god (1/2)
We saw the groundwork be laid for this achievement as far back as the Tournament of Power.
Putting one’s life on the line, gaining power without a direct master, and the ability to evolve one’s strength mid-fight. Ultra Ego is an embodiment of all of these in one way or another.
