4. Do visual novels count? Especially ones that get a lot of flack? bc DRAMAtical Murder is both. Despite being a yaoi game, I found it to have humor, fascinating characters & a story that integrates Buddhist concepts. I personally love the bright 80s aesthetic and unique music.

3. Breath of Fire Dragon Quarter! It has a unique gameplay system that punishes the use of your dragon powers but rewards you for game overs by letting you to carry over exp & items, unlock hidden scenes that expand upon the story, with new areas unlocking on each playthrough
