Step 2. A Black Vulture I saw @HawkConservancy Trust in August. Coloured pencils and pan pastels on Pastelmat. 15th vulture drawing on A4, one more after this but the other 7 species I don't have access to (the yellow headed ones, the Cape vulture and the Asian gyps vultures).
One of my favourite Cinereous vulture drawings (but I haven't finished drawing Dolores yet 😉). Prismacolor premier and Verithin on Pastelmat, pan pastel background. Reference taken at Ouwehand Zoo. A3 sized.

My daughter Lisa, from a few years ago. Prismacolor premier coloured pencils on Stonehenge cotton paper.
I've been working on these 2 today. I said I would finish the white-headed vulture couple weeks ago, but it turns out it still needs a lot of work. I more or less finished Dolores' beautiful face, now on to all those feathers ! Photos taken @HawkConservancy and @RotterdamZoo
A little bit of progress, that's the easiest part done. Lappet-faced vulture, coloured pencils on Pastelmat, pan pastel background. Reference Pixabay

Work in progress, Lappet-faced vulture, reference Pixabay. Unfortunately I have never had the pleasure of seeing this vulture face to face, hopefully one day. Recently "upgraded" from endangered to critically endangered as so many other vulture species...
One of my favourite drawings I ever made of a person, from the time when I still enjoyed drawing people, years ago. Catherine Deneuve, coloured pencils on Stonehenge cotton paper.
African lion, coloured pencils and pan pastels on Pastelmat. Reference Jamie MacArthur.
