A while ago I found a sick and abandoned jackdaw chick on the farm and ended up rearing it, until he grew up. Pre fledging, his favourite things were listening to the radio, eating scrambled eggs and rearranging my hair for me. Also delighted in tormenting my dachshund.
An afternoon rejoicing at the many wild plants in flower at the moment and also this longhorn (Rhagium bifasciatum) - which was posing nicely on a fence post and narrowly avoided me sitting my cup of tea on it by accident. All in the garden, which is rather wild.
A thousand times more sightly, interesting and useful than a manicured lawn 🌼🦋🐝 #JusticeforDandelions #Leaveyourlawn #StopbeingsoBritish
Born today and trying its hardest to be extremely cute. I am unswayed. #TeamInvert 🦋🐑
Today is #SpringEquinox AND #InternationalHappinessDay 🌼 Winter blues are lifting - snowdrops replaced with a carpet of cheerful lesser celandine, it’s mild enough to work outside in the garden and a peacock just stopped by to catch some sun 🦋
Delighted to see our #MothsMatter campaign up and running! Moths are equally as exquisite as butterflies, play a key part in the food chain and research is also highlighting their importance in pollination. Look forward to a year of mothy goodness from @savebutterflies 🦋
Lots of Hebrew character for me too this morning, plus dotted border and many chestnuts #teammoth
@BlotchedEmerald @BeccasButterfli Hi Rebecca - great that you are still finding moths to enjoy, as there are less around at this time of year. As David says this is a grey shoulderknot. You will recognise a silver Y when you see one, as their markings are so distinctive. 🦋 Keep up the good work 🐛 :)
Today is my birthday. So instead of emptying my moth traps normally, I'm emptying them with a glass of prosecco. And that's about as outrageous as my day is going to be. #gettingold
