I don't normally make a big deal about stuff like this but I didn't notice something about Suletta's character design until now.

Her skin is slightly tanner than her mother's but not as much as her father's. Nice attention to detail from the designers.

@Renwin64 @discotekmedia I think it was either TMS or RAI (the Italian studio that requested this project) that vetoed that idea. RAI also told Miyazaki to tone down some of the "darker" aspects from his original plan for the anime, which includes Holmes' drug use as shown in this concept art.

Heck, as a Muslim viewer growing up, I got my "positive representation" fix through a lot of manga and anime while a lot of American media (with a few exceptions) at the time went to the "Evil Arab" well.

As a matter of fact, with his backstory as a survivor of a doomed planet who uses a mech to combat a threat that destroyed his planet, this version of Superman basically Duke Fleed from UFO Robo Grendizer.
