I go to a place I do not know
a gift I’ve given
to many - the place of death

I go by a way unfamiliar
the road of defeat

I leave behind those
who had no cause
to love me
for I was cruel
hard as iron

I wonder what I’ll find

Those I sent ahead
will doubtless make me welcome

I touch you
tho I know you are not there

(you’re dead, you see)

I taste your lips
even tho
I know
you’re gone from me

between these worlds
I languish -

the hell where I admit you’re gone

the madness where I simply carry on
as if nothing has changed

Faerie Lover - a poem by Neil G

Sleep you gentle in my arms,
I’m just a dream of yours …

To work mine end upon their senses that
This airy charm is for, I’ll break my staff,
Bury it certain fathoms in the earth,
And deeper than did ever plummet sound
I’ll drown my book.

I am alone
not with my lover

I am in the garden
contemplating
the water trough
after rain

she was unsworn
not one of us
yet she stood
held the line, unrelenting

a scarred face
was her testament

the foemen fell on us
a violent, surprise attack

with fury in her eyes
she stood her ground
the battle never saw her back

Raven Sings ~

Mother dark,
in a cloak folded

One
crooked
watchful eye

Quiet the harp!

Silence speaks a message
only Raven may hear

Have no fear!

She opens wide her wings,
you are embraced!
The wise bird sings ..

Magdalene’s Ecstasy

he’s gone
yet I feel his breath upon me

unyielding stone
water-smooth my bed

solitude
no loneliness

I’m patient
spellbound in ecstatic trance

days slip away
I count them not

leaves fall
leaves renew
these seasons of silence
each one a friend that’s true

Tribute To Edgar ~

Each thing I touch
corrupts to dust.
I see Death
in each one’s eye.
I wander through
this charnel house,
led by a raven’s cry.

O yes it’s true
that I have loved
beyond the love of mortal men,
but Death and the sea
took her from me
and I’m alone again.
