I wasn’t there
when you came seeking
some other-where
I was
a place you cannot find
I’ve no answers
for the questions in your mind
be content
we don’t know so many things
write down your thoughts
as if they were questions
you can’t answer
consider them as the magpie sings
instant of terror
fingers
spider-like
wrapped
(almost involuntarily)
around the glass
icy chill first
then it burned
“Ah!” he sighed. “The devil

the goblet kisses
like a whore
the oceanic potion
swallows him whole
fills his soul
with darkness
