To help with the 18 feet leap, I had a flexible strap made that had the pegs I would use as stirrups mounted on it, way up by the horse's shoulders blades, to lift my feet up onto as I made the move to jump. The second time I tried the leap it worked perfectly.

Spanish film director Alex de la Iglesia personally took a copy of his movie "800 bullets" to Spielberg in Hollywood. "He knew the place, the site, the city. Even where he ate better ... He's in love with Almeria".
They spent over an hour just talking about Tabernas desert.

Donovan's convoy is then ambushed by the Brotherhood of the Cruciform Sword, commanded by Kazim. The dramatic and stellar death of Kevork Malikyan when Donovan shot him suffered a dramatic cut in Michael Kahn's edition.
It would not be the only Tabernas' deleted scene.

In addition to the 28-ton colossus, George Gibbs' team built another aluminum replica for special shots. It had the same wingspan but was much lighter, "barely" weighed 2 tons and was installed on top of an independent drive. We can see both tanks in the last picture.

Filming in Almeria was a great success. A modern country, with great communications and services, great professionals, where everything became simple. Despite being near a large monument, the Alcazaba, there were no large crowds. Everything was perfect.

To place the Roll Royce in, they built a wooden ramp to lead to the set, but finally it couldn't handle the weight. Three steps were damaged. We can see a different color by now. Spielberg paid for the repair and donated 300,000 old pesetas for the students' study trip.

The next scene is the Jones boys and Sallah driving through the streets of Iskenderun. However, a scene was filmed before that, in which the Joneses arrived at the Guadix station, where a few days before the good Marcus Brody had arrived. Obviously, this scene was deleted.

To create the dense flock of seagulls needed, they bought several hundred of toys, wound them up and released them into the air against a black background. Then they double exposed them into the scene to create the expected effect of birds flying through the frame.
George Lucas's original idea. Steven Spielberg's awesome direction. Harrison Ford's personality. Hollywood's magic...
