It's not just about teaching people combos and strats right off the bat. We really should be remembering what it took for us to learn these games and how long we've had to build on those foundations. Fighting games aren't hard, they're just different.

When I first started playing fighting games, I needed a basic understanding of the basics first, which for a new player who just "wants to play" that's tough. You just want to do cool stuff and play right away. This isn't how most fighting games work.
