Did this painting a while back in remembrance of the Spanish civil war and the Republicans/Anarchists/Popular Front who fought and lost against Franco. Amazingly, the woman who bought the painting actually had a grandmother who wore the red scarf when she served in the militia.

@Jesswhitecomic I think Schultz' interpretation is just fine. It looks like a man who could look very severe when angry. Even Charles Bronson and Clint Eastwood seemed friendly when smiling. 😊 I wanted my own take to feel like Buscema, but I'm not sure if I succeeded in the end. It's difficult!

Watercolor sketch and final oil painting! I got a short notice invitation to participate in an "erotic" art show while working on it, so I added the bare chest as a quick "fix". 😅 That organic sky texture on the water color version was created by pouring salt on the paper.

More detail does NOT equal better. Small study and the final painting. I wanted to create a homage to Hajime Sorayama and his robot pinup art. I think the smaller study came out better though. The extra detail doesn't amount to anything and just mucks up the design. 😕 #chrome
