Our next unit of study is to be on the topic of evolution, but maybe I should consider teaching a lesson in botany...

Instead of asking who's the top and who's the bottom in a relationship, ask who's the homozygous dominant and who's the homozygous recessive!

Some cases of catalysts are troublesome. Take Self-Splicing Introns, able to remove the genetic material from within itself. Though efficient and niche, they reaction alters them, so they do not meet the final criteria. Despite this, self-splicing introns are still catalytic RNA

4 4

To begin, first we must define a catalyst. A catalyst in the microscopic context is something that will increase the speed of a chemical reaction, it will have one specific niche with no other potential, and can be reverted to its original state / reused after the reaction.

The list of Functional RNA is unending, but here are the specimen we will be discussing:
- snRNA (small nuclear RNA)
- siRNA (small interfering RNA)
- shRNA (short hairpin RNA)
- miRNA (micro RNA)
- Ribozymes (ribosomal enzymes; catalytic RNA)
- RNA involved in RNA interference

7 9

Shortly, we will be introduced to even more showings of functional RNA. It might feel overwhelming, but just remember that RNA is one of the most hopeful features of the cell, as all of its prefixes are incredibly straight forward and act as helpful reminders to what they are

6 8

Functional RNA are not as alien as they may seem. It's essentially a fancy way to say "any RNA that is not mRNA", which we have talked about before! tRNA (used during translation), rRNA (part of the ribosome), telomeric RNA. the examples seem to never end

8 7

While most might know RNA to be used like blueprint for creating a functional molecule, as we know in science, there is no such thing as an absolute--except for hope, of course! Some RNA may be classified as "Functional RNA", meaning the RNA itself is the functional molecule.

Without mutations, the universe would be a cold and lifeless wasteland. But through mutations, single cellular organisms evolved and grew to created the very world around us, even creating you and me. I guess that makes us all mutants then

Dearest Komaedalings, the time has come to learn genetics. Hold onto your hope, for only despair awaits us
