Hi and Lois. Okay, are all old cartoonists just hermits or social pariahs? So many of these jokes are predicated on people wanting to be left alone.
Garfield. A comic where people have figured out it’s funnier if you simply remove Garfield or Garfield’s thoughts. This one is accidentally funny if you ignore Garfield and assume Jon is talking about the coronavirus but he’s just too numb to care.
Funky Winkerbean. Passable artwork that varies up the angle a bit panel to panel. Is this even a joke or is the author having a stroke while he made it? Or did I have a stroke while reading it?
The Family Circus. Uh huh.
Well...
Fuck you, that’s dumb. This wouldn’t make a 70-year old laugh. Why are papers paying for this dreck?
B.C. Wow, does this suck. It’s a guy blowing off climate change as some sort of cheesy pickup line. And the punchline is it simply doesn’t work. Can you imagine being a kid today, reading this and wondering why it’s even being printed?
Amazing Spider-Man. Bland. Barely enough time to tell me some random kid is gonna die. Are they allowed to have action in these? Stan’s been dead for a year which makes me wonder how many of these are even left?
Is there an artist that illustrates more gorgeous environments than Juanjo Guarnido? I don’t believe you.
Today would have been the birthday of Dave Cockrum, an amazing artist who added a lot to Legion of Super-Heroes and X-Men.
