Another new drawing for the climactic fight sequence at the gate of the void. Brandy Cinnamon Wages has to fight hard as the story and her wasteland journey draws to its conclusion.
When you gaze long into the abyss, as the saying goes.
These are some of the other drawings for that sequence, where the a bridge over a flood leads to the aquatic garden train yard. There Brandy Cinnamon and Co. meet Tina Perdue, who battles robot drones. This all goes with the accompanying text.
I did some continuity checks, and I had to add the burn on the back of Brandy Cinnamon Wages' right hand in this drawing of her. She is riding the half-scale train while she ponders journeys toward the inevitable.
New. A strange turn of events in The Wages, An Illustrated Story.
When it’s time to draw the fantastic elements in the story, I often look to Goya or William Blake for linear language, because they used drawing techniques as finished work. This one is more Goya.
Brandy Cinnamon Wages tells of her bus on the stacked trains.
…
After feeling frustrated at having only one option forward on the bridge, I now felt bewildered with the confusion of the meaningless tangle of multiple tracks and the strange intersecting pools.
Brandy Cinnamon Wages tells of unexpected changes that come to her body:
…
Wrapping the wings around myself felt nicer than I expected, and I slept better than I usually did.
I hoped the wings would be gone the next day, but they were still there when I got up.
…
What it feels like to go out of the wasteland and into the void.
Here’s some random looks from the story.
1 - Pyjamas
2 - Brandy in a scoop neck, with a bandage on the cut to her neck. Crystal sweater dress and boots look.
3 - Centre part and fraying corduroy pants.
4 - Bouffant perm and blue metallic trousers with blazer over ruffle blouse.
Here’s a quick character outline for The Wages, An Illustrated Story.
Brandy Cinnamon Wages’ drummer is her big sister Crystal Carmel Wages. Crystal is a lie detector, and an introvert who doesn’t like to waste time with small talk when she wants to get things done.
As promised, here is the finished ‘Spaghetti Western’ poster-style drawing of Brandy Cinnamon Wages, standing in the wasteland as she nears the void.
