Brought some colour into Brandy Cinnamon’s face. I thought I lost control of it for a bit, but got the delicacy back. By delicacy I mean toughness.
I’ve watched many makeup tutorials too, to get her smokey eye right. She’s more country than rockabilly—no solid-edge red lip etc.
Watercolour first so the black background in graphite will go cleaner around it, and make the florals pop a little.
Sometimes it’s better to do the background after, if you’re working with an opaque medium. It can pick the foreground up and make it more lively.
This is pretty much coming out the way I imagined it. I drew the picture out to fill the video frame to 16:9 aspect ratio, but it really made it look like a comtemporary video. So I trimmed it to 4:3, and now it looks like an old TV frame video posted online.

My drawing for @lfpress of the video appearance of Nathaniel Veltman, the accused in the alleged anti-Muslim mass killing in London, Ontario. For the full stories, please visit https://t.co/dRyZNwU0qH
I have been a court sketch artist for 18 years.
Posting this one again, because I accidentally posted the Instagram trim of it to Twitter, where a trim is not needed. The composition looks better in this shape that I drew it for. The space around her is doing what I want it to here.
