Sometimes I complete the figure first before I draw any surroundings at all.
Brandy Cinnamon Wages, her sister Crystal, and their group explore a hotel where they seek refuge from a flood.
When Brandy Cinnamon Wages rides across the wasteland, her surroundings look worse the closer she gets to the void. Here she sees a battle which is turning bad for these soldiers.
David is at The Battle of Somme when he encounters the same demon that Brandy Cinnamon Wages will battle 100 years later. A fluke in time eventually puts David in the wasteland with her. She takes him onboard her coach, but she finds him annoying and loses her temper.

Brandy Cinnamon Wages takes a break from tour at a bookstore in Faterfair. An Oracle will predict she’s going to take a dramatic and unexpected detour to the void on her journey home.
Crystal and Brandy, the Wages sisters, are narrowly missed by cold super-strike lightning.
Some ride a raft into light, laughter, and joy.
Some have wings for the darkness.

Since I recently worked on and posted three new drawings for the ‘80s part of The Wages, An Illustrated Story, I thought I should repost a few other drawings set in that time period.
I wanted this to look like the murk of the subconscious, but it was going too cartoony. Too fun. I dumped a lot of dark watercolours onto it. Now it is taking more of the direction I had first imagined. I will have to keep working to make it more obscure and unpleasant. The Wages
Eyedeevee’s finger tries to melt itself onto Brandy Cinnamon Wages’ hand. It fails, but leaves her with a nasty burn, and terrifying sympathetic nightmares of his horrifying plans for our world—a place where she has never had an easy time.
