March 29, 1961: At a Soviet Academy of Science press conference about the imminent flight of a human into space, a spokesperson refutes Western reports that Russian cosmonauts had died in secret space missions. This is a “complete fabrication…entirely and absolutely unfounded.”

March 2, 1964: In a front page story, the New York Times reveals NASA has saved 2000 pounds from the weight of the lunar module by eliminating the need for seats. "The elimination of seats permitted a reduction in the overall volume of the module and in the size of the windows."
