Lotte Laserstein (November 28, 1898 in Preussisch Holland, German Empire – January 21, 1993 in Kalmar, Sweden). I believe the model to be Traute Rose. Rose was her favorite model, her tennis coach, and life long friend.

Life Drawing by Alan McGowan, 2004. This is a nice example of using a "searching" line approach to the figure. You work the whole page allowing the image to emerge. The focus is on capturing the gesture before obsessing over individual parts.

Olga Boznańska "Portrait of Children", 1907, oil on cardboard, 95 x 70 cm. It is really challenging to capture children without them appearing overly sentimental. Boznańska has a knack for balancing charm and observation.
