As a kid, his immune system was much worse. Frail health+being his family's only heir made him too valuable to expose to unnecessary illness or injury, so he had to stay inside alone & miss out on games, fencing, & horse riding lessons. (He didn't mind much, he was always a nerd)
Someone asked if, since Hyden is sickly, he gets sick more often than most people. He does!
Worse, a cold or flu can linger in his system at a low level for weeks. He makes sure that everyone around him shares his misery, of course, by being even more sour and whiny than usual.

In the far north tundra there supposedly lies a city immune to the dire cold consuming the rest of the world. The City of the Sun enjoys endless summers thanks to The Sun Lord's blessing...

The south rim of the continent hasn't completely iced over. Northcrest is declining for other reasons, though, namely the death of town witch Baroness North. Her son is a poor replacement.

Alex & Ridge drive a stolen Ironfrost snowmobile to a Rising Dawn research base in the north tundra. An odd magical energy signature is coming from under the ice...
It's easy to forget that Hyden is a huge, hulking, kinda brutish looking guy under all the delicate silk and jewels (this is intentional on his part). Facial hair brings out that side of him, though, I think.
The disguise Hyden was probably wearing when he first met Theo (Alex & Ridge wouldn't let him wear his wizard renaissance fair robes in public, for some mysterious reason, something about being "too conspicuous").
Fun to see him in something other than his typical effete style.
@Pr0t0E He finds this arrangement... acceptable.
Those better be some good bones you're giving him, though.
