@hinokit There's so much more art I could share, I could summarize every character's frickin' arc, or how much I learned while working on this story, but, yea. Suffice it to say that these characters taught me a lot, and they've transformed over time like I have.

@hinokit Perhaps at the forefront of this, and the heart of the narrative in many ways, is the relationship between Katrina Kesuk and Jane Fitzpatrick. Not unlike my high school writing of Starfire/Raven, took me a while to realize
"ohhhhh they gay...!!"

@moxie2D @ticcytx @nymre @sakura_rose12 @avian_anderson @eevee445 I have a LOT of regrets with how I wrote SRU, like how 'westernized' my more ignorant self approached writing it. It did give me a place to explore some darker things I hadn't really written before, though.

@moxie2D @ticcytx @nymre @sakura_rose12 @avian_anderson SRU was intended to basically explore and express the idea that 'hey, these fantasy cartoon characters' have problems that can correlate to REAL LIFE and it's important to take multiple perspectives into account on an interpersonal level.'

@moxie2D @ticcytx @nymre @sakura_rose12 About halfway through writing, we started learning about Korra, and I quickly worked her in as a sixth main character with a story arc that went off in a totally different direction from the show in many ways.

@moxie2D @ticcytx @nymre @sakura_rose12 For every callback or nod to the source material, there was a complete twist and swerve away from the og series. It gave me space to explore theoretical connections and develop side characters in ways the canon just couldn't.

@moxie2D @ticcytx In its original state, SRU took 3.5 years to write a 1,000,000 word narrative that spanned a year in the life of a group of young adults based directly on characters from the #AvatarTheLastAirbender #LegendofKorra universe in a modern setting.
