I've finished the #CursedCity models, and taken some decent pictures. First up is another enemy group, the Zombies!
I just love these models. The whole stake aesthetic, newly buried feel, the body horror roots on top of classic body horror zombie stuff... #WarhammerCommunity
Radukar the Beast should be known as the legendary Super Soulblight.
Petition to have an AOS animation starring Hamilcar to be made.
Also the Castlevania studio to do a Cursed City show.
Finished some Seekers of Slaanesh. Converted from various bits after massacring other kits for parts. Almost done with the Slaaanesh backlog!
I mentioned that hats matter. What about Radukar's? It's likely a papakha. It became part of the Cossack uniform in the late 1800's. It's certainly no ushanka, as it's not round, and doesn't have the ear flaps. The Kubanka is usually flat topped, which this also isn't.
So I've mentioned Ivan IV (the terrible, or the fearsome) a few times. First things first: this incredible artwork of Ivan, having just fatally wounded his own son. No relation to Cursed City, but artwork this good deserves to be shared. Haunting.
Now wearing a wolf pelt is one thing, but Radukar is dedicated to his image. He's got a wolves head on his sleeves, a stylizes wold pin on his hat (more on the hat later!). Even vis belt buckle looks like a fanged mouth. There's even an extra stylized wolf head on his belt!
The most important detail is the two headed wolf pelt. This is an adaption the imperial eagle. Roman Aquila was augmented in the middle ages, seen here with one on a Byzantine emperor's bible. It was then adopted by Ivan the Great. Wolves also have a long association with Russia.
After long last, Radukar the Wolf! The big bad bossman himself. In some ways, he's rather understated. Which is a strange thing to say about a model with a giant, two headed wolf pelt.
Shows how awesome and packed the rest of the set is. No excess flash, he's all business.
