It’s fall and the windows are open, time for this to be my entire aesthetic
@hmscockchafer @FiftyFathomKnit This hat definitely came to mind! And this image from Parry is what I’ve been thinking of ever since this conversation started…
Since it's #AntarcticaDay: here is one of the earliest known depictions of the Ross Ice Shelf - before it was even called the Ross Ice Shelf! John Edward Davis of HMS Terror drew the "Great Southern Barrier" in 1842, while Ross's expedition was trying to find a way around it.
Bonus old JCR (in a turtleneck because the generator didn’t have more historical clothing?)
I also made JCR and Crozier because of course I did
Although I’d say most of the time I look like this
@illuminatorblog Okay I guess it’s time to go full conspiracy mode and note this unidentified miniature sketch by Thomas Bock. It aligns better with the RGS miniature, but still...
@nedwardlittle They’d look a bit more like this (from one of the Parry Expeditions), but I understand why the show didn’t want to show everyone as a complete wool-wrapped blob :D
Apparently there is a Terror Lad Generator, so I had to make a Ross. https://t.co/TEmxftxx0W
@sailingsouthsea tall Parry, and Sabine drawing himself comically short. Parry always gets shown as very tall. This isn't specifically labelled as him, but it's from an account of the 1819 voyage and.. the likeness.
