A geographic tongue is an #inflammatory condition that affects the surface of the tongue. Patches can appear as smooth, red "islands" with slightly raised borders that gives a map-like appearance. Those with #psoriasis or reactive arthritis may be more at risk of developing this.

#Superfetation is when a second, new pregnancy occurs during an initial pregnancy. While extremely rare in humans, it commonly occurs in other species. Only a few cases have been documented, and most seem to have occurred through #IVF!

#SadNippleSyndrome causes abrupt negative feelings such as anxiety or sadness when the nipples are stimulated. This can occur in both males & females. No specific research has been done, but one theory is that nipple stimulation releases chemicals that produce negative emotions.

Thunderstorms can cause an extreme reaction in those with #astraphobia, leading to symptoms such as chest pain, numbness, heart palpitations, and breathing difficulties. While many children will eventually outgrow it, some continue to experience the #phobia into adulthood.

Scientists recently discovered a new type of heart cell called the #NexusGlia, which is thought to help regulate heart rate & rhythm. These cells were first discovered in zebra fish and seem to be located where many congenital heart defects occur.

Individuals with body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) spend a lot of time worrying over an imagined or slight imperfection in their appearance. These persistent and intrusive thoughts can be so severe that they interfere with daily functioning. #BodyDysmorphicDisorder #BodyDysmorphia
