Today in 1812-during the #Warof1812-British & Indian forces under #SirIsaacBrock defeated an American army under General Stephen Van Rensselaer at the #BattleofQueenstownHeights, on the Niagara frontier in Ontario. The loss dissuaded the USA from any further invasions of #Canada.

The #FrenchRevolution's flash point was centered on Paris' #Bastille, as upwards of 1,000 insurgents attacked the medieval fortress & prison OTD in 1789 to acquire its large stores of gunpowder. #BastilleDay has been celebrated since as #FêteNationale, the National Day of France.
