Followed by a draught of ale poured on the earth for the faeries.

The pagan plant mistletoe, was much revered by our ancestors. It was so sacred that it was cut with a golden sickle. Holly & other evergreens were also respected, in the belief that they provided refuge for woodland spirits 'til other trees regrew their leaves. #FolkloreThursday
