Dutch author & illustrator Rie Cramer was born #OTD in 1887. She also wrote for a leading underground newspaper during WWII. She illustrated everything from fairy tales to Shakespeare.

You are never too old to begin writing. William Steig, known for such books as Sylvester & the Magic Pebble, did not begin writing children's books until he was 61. He would go on to write 30 of them & win the Caldecott Medal. He died #OTD in 2003.
