Along with writing, painting was one of the creative outlets for Zelda Fitzgerald during periods when she was receiving treatments for depression & mania. One of her favorite subjects to paint was Alice in Wonderland.
As a boy, the artist Walter Crane enjoyed decorating his books with watercolor illustrations. When his father, portrait artist, Thomas Crane saw this. He did not punish the boy but introduced him to William James Linton, the head of one of the best printing & engraving companies.
I love that I live in a world where Jane Austen existed. I enjoy thinking about the fact that she not only wrote novels but brewed her own beer. Her specialty was "spruce beer" which included the ingredient molasses to make the beer taste sweeter.
