#Smaugust2021 21- Corn
I've been wanting to sneak this little guy in from last year's smaugust. It is revered in its highland home but is slowly being domesticated. When heating up its flame pouch, it's hot enough to boil water and cook food.

#Smaugust2021 22- Gorilla
I went for yeti vibes since Tropical was a prompt for day 13. Also didn't want to go for a winged gorilla because I̶ ̶l̶i̶k̶e̶ ̶e̶m̶ ̶b̶i̶g̶,̶ ̶I̶ ̶l̶i̶k̶e̶ ̶e̶m̶ ̶c̶h̶o̶n̶k̶y̶. I wanted it to look strong and intimidating without being overtly violent.

They were once majestic hounds reared and pampered by the fey. However, they were never sated by the spoils of their masters and kept demanding more. They were punished by the fey by having their greed physically manifest then promptly banished.

#Smaugust2021 18- Sleep
Based on otters, but I think these guys are more lethargic. They have evolved to look like aquatic plants when viewed by aerial predators, and they usually just float around until they find food. That could be bugs attracted to their face or shellfish.

#Smaugust2021 17- Carp
This one's... just as strange as its prompt. There's a myth somewhere of a carp that became a dragon, but I didn't quite wanna go that route. So I made him chonky and without a visible tail. He looks like an oaf but can probably decapitate you in one swing.

It has been touched by the soot of the great fire and witnessed the river swallow the streets. The city's inhabitants had long since gained its likeness under its stony gaze, and yet it remains. Silently observing from its lofty perch, forevermore.

I just realized I've never tasted lobster nor seen one up close... But its cousins, crab and shrimp, are delicious, so it's a safe assumption that lobsters must be scrumptious.

#Smaugust2021 9- Kaiju
It's been a menace in these waters for quite some time now, claiming islands and altering the landscape as well as the surrounding sea. It chases fisherfolk and trading vessels away, sometimes violently attacking them with blasts of water.

#Smaugust2021 8- Nautical
Maybe they were once tamed to establish seafaring settlements, the remnants of which can still be found on some individuals. I imagine young ones could only support grass and some patches of trees, but ancient ones have entire ecosystems on their backs.
