It's hard to tell in these pictures, but the gray of the background has a hint of green to it, to really make the orange skin pop 🧡

I usually paint in watercolors, nowadays dabbling with acrylics, and love to sneak gemstones and moons into my art.

Embracing textures.

I used rough watercolor paper with a gesso layer for this, and, at first, really struggled with it. Now I'm going all in on patterns and trying out new blending techniques. 🙂

Getting out of my comfort zone might be good, who would have thought!

On a more positive note: We both love space, stars, the moon... so both the name choice and the illustration resonated deeply.

I based the sun painting on a variety of space images and put a lot of care into the details of the texture.
