Now I'm going to point something out about Spider-man Blue at the end of the graphic novel it implies that Peter loses his Virginity to Gwen. You can also read old comics and I took notes of this and Gwen and Peter...are kind of saucy.

Anyway why was Sins Past made let's start with Gwen and what she was for Spider-man at this time. You see very much a character put on a pedestal. Many of the creators who grew up with Spider-man loved her and so wrote stuff that romanticized her quite a lot.

This might be an irregular thing but take a a an obscure character and revamp them. This time I'm going with the Jester.

Anyway retcons do suck sometimes and for the final part of this I'm going to retcon this thread into a prequel for my thread tomorrow on sins past. The 15th anniversary celebration that Marvel would not dare to give it but I will!

One Hal fanboys get there hero back, DC gets a new Villain who can be a plot point, and you make Sinestro a really powerful force in universe it's a retcon that I would also says add more then take away. That is a key thing.

Anyway these are bad retcons, what are good retcons. Often times they are retcons to fix something and it sometimes more simple. Take the Parallax retcon. Some people hate some people love it. But it does fix things in a clean way.

Example the Rogues were given powers in the Nu 52 but Geoff liked writing them as smart guys who have to work for their powers so he took out Captain Colds power when he got to write them again.

Yeah that was the thing he did actually before then it was just not a thing. Anyway, that's why the speed force retcon exists to explain why the DC universe at the time had so many speedsters in it's history. A way to connect them and also simplify somethings.
