I think Hank has a place as a character who can look at mental illness and show the high and lows of it. A lot of the problems of the past stories can be examined through this lens and show that you can move through dark spots into something better.

Scott Lang was NEVER HUGE in comics, even compared to say GOTG, I'm not joking here, Bendis for example wanted to kill him off since he figured no ONE WOULD CARE IF HE DID, then he lost him Geoff Jones at the time and had to retcon his comic.

But he became Ultron and evil, and then told the Avengers off in Secret Empire. But well he probably is coming back at some point since Dan Slott made it that Hank was never Ultron in this incarnation. Either way let's talk about his media appearances.

Ultimates at the time was THE COMIC, and I mean the comic everyone read and had to have an opinion on. Joe Q hated THE AVENGERS at the time, it's why the team is not called Ultimate Avengers, and so wanted a hip dark version to be the face of those characters.

Kurt added a unique wrinkle to Pym I think with these panels he made it canon that Ultron was based on Pym, and so with this....it created a new fandom interpretation of Pym that I see more of as time goes on and people read...Hank's as a story of mental health.

Hank knew he fucked up and it pushed him to be better in the West Coast era, the Hank Pym of West Coast is trying to redeem himself and is now JUST SMARTER with his pym particles stuff. It's a very underrated run.

So Hank's bad moments will often get to shine for TEAM DRAMA....and this lead us to....that moment. Hank in a mental breakdown decides to make himself look better by using a robot to attack the avengers....Jan finds out and yeah.
