The time variance authority are a bit more meta. They are actually stand in for Marvel editorial and was meant as a friendly homage to Mark Grunwald whose job it was to keep track of every story and monitor continuity mistakes they are often used as more of a joke about the staff
*Superman new Krypton
*after fighting Brainiac Superman now has a population of 100,000 kryptonians on his hands
*This would begin a long story about Superman helping them adjust and fighting them when Zod became more prominent leading to war of the Supermen.
*Superman Return to Krypton
*Introduces a version of pre crisis Krypton but explains it as just the VERY distant past to have both the post crisis sterile setting and the Raygun gothic classic version.
*It brought back Krypto to the main books and Superman finally had his dog
*Legends.
*Darkseid sends down Glorious Godfrey to make EVERYONE hate superheroes.
*Byrne REALLY HATES JIM SHOOTER.

TO GIVE one example one of the things the book was meant to get to was Explaining Why Jonn changed as a character and changed costume and they had to rush in an explanation in a tie in book because the book couldn't be arsed to do it but honestly I'm fine.
