Sundari and the Japamala of Buddha, Arena and the Alchemist Sphinx. These are the first two of four illustrations of The Doomed Magicians, a series of illustrations that I am working on. #PortfolioDay

The second Doomed Magician: Arena. These Mages are strongly inspired by the old artists of Magic the Gathering and Mitos y Leyendas, which opened the doors of the Fantasy Art for me.

Perhaps I'm imagining it, but looking at Moto Hagio episode in Manben, I can't help but notice how some close-up frames in Saint Seiya worked by Shingo Araki and Michi Himeno have something of Hagio's influence. Especially in how those very beautiful eyelashes were depicted.

@SFinniganArt For a gouache illustration (21 x 29.7cm / 8.3 x 11.7") like this, an entire week to produce the thumb and the detailed lineart, and another one to paint it. At least 80 hours.
