Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards uses higher quality models during cutscenes as to make it seem higher quality, but uses a separate in-game model to improve performance. Here is an example with Waddle Doo's cutscene model (left) and his in-game boss fight model (right).
DMA Design, later Rockstar North, were tasked with creating a Kirby game titled Kid Kirby. It used the SNES Mouse to flick an infant Kirby across the stage. It got cancelled due to taking a while to complete. Sprites and concept art were released on Mike Dailly’s Flickr account.
Ice Kirby’s trophy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl seemingly doesn’t draw from the latest game at the time, Kirby: Squeak Squad, instead resembling closer to the Return to Dream Land design, which came out after Brawl’s release.
