Recently watched the cult classic '81 horror film, DEAD AND BURIED, which plays out like a feature length gory Twilight Zone episode with the requisite twist ending; highlight is the wicked needle in the eye, and the Big Bad in none other than Grandpa Joe - Jack Albertson.

If it's then has to have a Big Bad Wolf; - stereotypes or diversity before its time? The characters were broad, but they weren't the butt of the joke, they're heroic; give an old character a son and a family - '80s trope.

Comic reading this weekend: (the kids take over, maybe not for the better); & Annihilation (covers a lot of ground and Billy & Teddy's backstory); (Fear State crossover feels like a detour).

even had do the old "You don't say" gag in the relentlessly aggressive Dr. Dred steals colors on because the network wouldn't allow him to do anything really violent on a kid's show in 1980; had good monsters.

Yes, it sure is, and it might be because the image of Harold Sakata in that black suit and lethal bowler were trademarked at the time; the voice actor for Goldfinger makes him sound vaguely like Scrooge McDuck.

today: the two parter, "The Desperate Desert Race," where Speed and company travel to Sand O Land (the Middle East) to race against Kim Jugger and his Black Tiger; there's intrigue, revolution, quicksand, & deadly scorpions; total fun.

"The Dragons of Ashida" is one episode where the villains take front & center, the high pitched laughing giant, Sumi, & the cackling Dr. Ashida are pure WWII era Yellow Peril, while those dragons are still impressively scary; always liked how Sumi gets the last laugh.
