Repetitive missions start to annoy during long play sessions, & a failure to actually elaborate on most Org. members may disappoint some. But the sleepy, slow burn of the game's core friendship makes for a comfortable sort of video game bedtime story.

Then they all die. 10/10.

By keeping even the basic details of the plot secret for far too long, the game winds up being 90% filler, and never finds truly stable footing. That said, while its new plot elements are hit or miss, KH2 resolves the dangling threads from previous games in spectacular fashion.

The card-based combat system has more critics than fans, but the story makes up for it, introducing one of the franchise's best original characters with Namine and providing a compelling redemption arc for Riku in the aftermath of his fall to the dark side in KH1.

"Who are you?!?"

... You... Dude, you literally laid out exactly who he is in explicit detail at the end of Birth By Sleep. You took one look at him and know exactly what he was. Terra's resisting mind.

Sigh.

This is setup for a dumb twist, isn't it?
