#WorkhouseWednesday In 1895 the Reverend Henry Collinson finally managed to persuade the Guardians to agree to install heating and hot water at Gressenhall #Workhouse. He was not very happy when the scheme was put on hold. Hot water was finally installed in 1899. #Victorian

Animals were not allowed in Gressenhall Workhouse – but Schoolmaster Robert Bradfield secretly kept a dog in his room. The Master and Mr Bradfield argued about the dog and Mr Bradfield ‘used very improper language and behaviour’. The dog was removed from the workhouse #Scandal
