IDW #41 uses it way more efficiently. Nothing is put on hold for the sake of it, nor does it pretentiously indulge in itself; it's just one of Sonic's continued attempts at aggravating Eggman and throwing him off his game.
@Superguy551 @p_ditty2 the pose isn't even broken. don't know why people complain about it lol
@buriringoartacc @Trickster____ Though I will admit that Butler's style can look pretty awkward at times. Axer, I reckon, does a much better job at keeping Sal and so on stylistically in line
@buriringoartacc @Trickster____ Fair.
I've never really taken issue with it though, considering Rouge already exists.
Besides, in Archie's canon, mobians are mutants born from radiation, mal-forming animals after Earth was destroyed, so I'm not surprised there's some inconsistency between them. (from #124).
@Trickster____ Her body type hasn't really changed much between these two, it's just been exaggerated. if anything it fits in with the modern redesigns of the main cast- exaggerating the features they already had.
@Superguy551 True. Certain expressions (eg. below Heroes/Rivals), will move the cheek around, so it's inevitable. I don't dislike it inherently, it's just an aspect of being expressive. What I'm iffy on is when it's there in relatively neutral expressions (eg. below Riders/BK).

All things considered, it isn't too intrusive here. The mandates on Shadow won't become a big issue in IDW for a while, but I mention it both for the sake of being comprehensive and because it's worth noting that the seeds for what's to come are planted here.
