Today's Goku Outfit: Yardrat clothes. After spending a year and change on Planet Yardrat learning to teleport, Goku finally returns to Earth still wearing the local garb. He spars with Trunks in this and later steals Roshi's sunglasses to show off his new skills. #DailyGokuOutfit
Today's Goku Outfit: Adult Turtle School Uniform #2. Hopefully Goku got a change of clothes after 5 years, but really this could be the same outfit from the 23rd TB. He wears it when Raditz arrives and during his training in the afterlife. #DailyGokuOutfit
Today's Goku Outfit: rainy day gear. Goku shows up to the 23rd tournament all grown up and decked out in this crazy getup we never, ever see again. All for the sake of the dramatic reveal when he unwraps his hair and everyone finally realizes it's him. #DailyGokuOutfit
Today in the Nearly Complete Works of Toriyama: Turns out Toriyama's done so damn many Dragon Quest illustrations over the years that they finally put them all together in a big book and forced him to draw yet another illustration for the cover.
Today's Goku Outfit: tiger skin. After three years of world travel, Goku shows up at the 22nd tournament in this Tarzan apparel. In the anime we even get to see the origin of this outfit as he's attacked by tigers. #DailyGokuOutfit
Today's Goku Outfit: Turtle School Uniform #3. Yamcha pays a tailor in a Wild West town to craft a replacement for Goku's ragged current outfit (with the cheapest fabric, of course). Goku wears it to fight Baba's warriors and Pilaf's robots. #DailyGokuOutfit
Happy birthday @oly_db! Thanks again for these amazing contributions to the Big Picture Project!
Today in the Nearly Complete Works of Toriyama: his design for the "Junk Geezer" (ガラクタじじい) used in a 1991 Weekly Jump commercial. In the commercial the Junk Geezer is portrayed by actor Shigeru Izumiya in special makeup, and is pink rather than metallic grey as seen here.
Today's Goku Outfit: his workout clothes. Goku changes into this after returning home from the DB quest, and wears it throughout his eight months of training under Roshi. Yes, he seemingly wears the same thing every day. I hope they did laundry often. #DailyGokuOutfit
May 9th is a Japanese number pun on "Goku" (May=5=Go, 9=ku). And so that's why Goku Day and Piccolo Day are the same day. This is also why Goku goes around in a jacket with 59 on it prior to the Cell Games.
