Toriyama has drawn the cover for his old editor Kazuhiko Torishima’s new book “Dr. Mashirito’s Mightiest Manga Techniques” (Dr.マシリトの最強漫画術), showing Torishima’s villainous alter ego Mashirito squaring off against Goku. https://t.co/n9TgRqOxDS

A new Kinnikuman anime has officially been announced. While not giving any details away, Yudetamago discuss it in their volume 81 intro, and joke about a possible Hollywood version one day.

As the powered-up Goku sets out for his rematch with Piccolo, Karin encourages him by saying he’s betting on Goku…which we later learn is a total friggin’ lie. Instead, Karin merely hoped Goku might fight Piccolo to a draw, leaving them both dead. Not a nice cat.

Goku’s first real challenge this arc is Sergeant Metallic (aka Metallitron, aka Full Metal Jacket), who’s so tough that Goku says he should’ve entered the tournament. He even manages to survive a Kamehameha, although not unscathed…

One offshoot of this is that an awful lot of the RR arc is Goku mowing down mooks. The readers already know what Goku is capable of, so the fun is in watching the oblivious RR soldiers realize just how badly they’ve underestimated him.

In the manga, Amy regrets not being able to use the Zoom spell to fly to Papnica. For whatever reason, the anime gives this line to Baduck instead

In other news: Viz’s English release of the fourth Dai kanzenban volume is out now, covering the first half of the Flazzard arc (equivalent to episodes 14-18 of the modern anime)

The countdown to the Pillar of Vearn detonation is five minutes in the manga, but doubled to ten minutes for the anime. Possibly this is to better match up with the actual amount of screen time, or just to avoid the inevitable Namek comparisons.

As usual, the anime tones down the amount of blood as Vearn’s arm is cut off. Notably, there’s now no blood splat on Vearn’s face, and no bone or dripping blood visible in his wound (I suppose Dai’s slash cauterized it, lightsaber-style)

In the manga the reaction to Avan getting turned into a Poké Ball is just a relatively subdued “Master…!!” from Popp (and the chapter keeps on going), but the anime really plays it up with everyone shouting for him (and this serves as the episode-ending cliffhanger)
