Best episode of the series so far, no contest!

This scene will always live rent-free in my head because good lord, the things Takahiro Kagami (加々美高浩) did on OG Yugioh & how he made it look like an entirely different show is just insane.

For the BG post this week i wanted to do something different and single out this very nice scene in the Rail tunnel!

i really like Funagakure's artboard here, with the flowers on the tracks, the weeds growing through the concrete, and the attention to lighting!

This portion of the fight really illustrates the gap in skill between Yomiko & Gennai, with Yomiko fumbling as Gennai effortlessly blocks her attacks.

that then leads into literal BG animation & layout porn... my jaw was on the floor for this whole fight.

Matsutake's Yomiko is just hands down my favourite of the entire OVA... just look these drawings 😍! absolutely beautiful!

easily one of the standout scenes in ROD #03 is Yasutomi Umetsu's (梅津泰臣). i just love how instantaneously recognizable Umetsu's artwork is here.

The POV is so impressive and even some of the water FX look fantastic.

overall just screams of Umetsu's touch.

if you thought ROD couldn't possibly top the impossibly high bar it already set for itself, then ho boy honey...do i have news for you, because Episode 3 somehow does that and more.
