Leopold handed Richard over to Emperor Henry VI.
Henry ransomed Richard for 150,000 marks - 2 to 3 times the annual income of the English Crown.

He won the bet by writing thousands of letters in the name of Mrs Tottenham of 54 Berners Street.
#OTD in 1875, Captain Matthew Webb became the first known person to swim the English Channel.
Webb swam from Admiralty Pier at Dover to Calais.
It took him 21 hours and 40 minutes.
Although the Channel is 21 miles at its narrowest, Webb’s zig-zag course was nearly 40 miles.
#OTD in 1939, the infamous Nazi-Soviet Pact was signed in Moscow.
The pact was a non-aggression treaty between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union.
It contained a Secret Protocol which carved up much of Eastern Europe between the two.
Nazi Germany invaded Poland nine days later.

After a four month siege, it fell because of Warwolf.
Warwolf is thought to be the largest trebuchet ever built.
It could hurl 300lbs rocks over 200m.
