The Belle Epoque was a time of creative innovation and was when the women’s first tailored suit was created. Only the jacket was tailored and a draped skirt would be worn. It challenged societal power and hinted independence for women in the future.

A-line skirts and dresses became very common within the era of the 40’s. Despite the ever-changing hem lengths, knee length was brought back. Shoulder pads were also in dresses and jackets for a boxy shape along the shoulders.

\During the Renaissance, the Medieval era took place as well. They had less voluptuous dresses that draped closer to their figures. Many of these dresses did not contain much patterning which made them look simpler than other dresses within the Renaissance
