@SarahTheHaider My background's in classics & ancient history, so Hellenic paganism, I guess. I've always been a fan of Athene -- as per this illustration of me hanging out with her (a commission done by the super-talented @LilyDFleur).
@neilhimself Lawful Pantser for poetry. Prose-wise, working on an interactive novel forced me to become a hardcore Lawful Plotter (flowcharts and multi-tabbed spreadsheet), and that's bled over into my other prose projects.
@Claire_V0ltaire Kind of like Zangief performing the spinning clothesline, and sweeping his arms through all political orientations.
Zounds.
Hope they settle this via one of those "guy standing in a hole" judicial combats you see illustrated (e.g.) in Talhoffer. https://t.co/VsFqxlYcP1
Thus "Aphrodisian Anabasis" came to be, with its sci-fi hooker gangs. Some examples below. In the Roman-themed bit, I called the boss Caligula, had characters called Caecilius and Metella, and made the opening line of Catullus 16 a war cry. Classics PhD put to good use there.
Initially, the story I came up with for Suns was a pretty standard "epic" sci-fi romp. Loads of Star Wars parallels and influences. Battling robots, aliens, and space-fascists, as you attempt to liberate the (culturally Chinese) Sian Empire. These should convey the tone:
@YaqutAzraq Thanks! Though I can't take credit for the art. I wrote the story / script, but I'm terrible at drawing. The artist(s) asked to be kept anonymous, because of things like the Charlie Hebdo murders, so I credited the art to "Anonymous Walrus" ("Walrus" to match the publisher name).
@LilyDFleur The artist(s) on my graphic novel weren't keen on being beheaded in the wake of things like the Mohammed cartoon riots and Charlie Hebdo murders, so I credited the art to "Anonymous Walrus". By contrast, I slapped my name on it and on my blasphemous poems. Either way's valid IMO.
@msmarbles2017 Let me sling some art into your feed, to help balance it out. You may recall me saying I prefer to be drawn than photographed. So, here's a pic of me hanging out with Athene (a commission drawn by @LilyDFleur).
@v_j_freeman Alternatively, how about me hanging out with Athene? (A commission done by @LilyDFleur.)
